Prayer Requests

Visitors to your Web site can submit requests for prayer through the Prayer Requests extension in netAdventist. These prayer requests can then be used to create an e-mail prayer chain. When site visitors submit a prayer request on your site, they can choose if they want it displayed on your site or kept private. They also can choose whether they want their prayer request e-mailed to the prayer chain or not. Note that before the request can be displayed on your site or sent to the prayer chain, a site administrator must first approve it.

Prayer Requests

  • Sign in to your netAdventist site.
  • Select the Dashboard link at the bottom of the home page.
  • Click the Website Pages tab at the top of the page.
  • Select the Prayer Requests link from the left menu.
  • Under the Prayer Requests submenu, you'll see links for Published prayer requests (i.e. a listing of all current prayer requests on your site) and Pending prayer requests (i.e. requests awaiting your approval). There is also a link for Prayer Chain and Settings. If you want to edit the message your site visitors see when viewing your prayer request page, click on the Settings link.
  • All new prayer requests submitted on the front end of your site are sent to the Pending folder for approval. Once you approve a prayer request it is automatically sent to the Published folder. Then it is sent out to your prayer chain or displayed on your site, if the submitter selected those options.
  • You have the option of selecting Approve All Requests or selecting each individual pending request in the index and approving them by selecting the Approve button. Note: It is your decision as the site adminstrator whether to show a prayer request on your site or not. Uncheck the check box when a request is approved if you don't feel it is appropriate for viewing on your site.
  • To add recipients to your prayer chain, select the Prayer Chain link. You can add emails to the list by selecting Add Recipents to the Prayer Chain. Enter an email account for someone who will be added to the prayer chain and select Add Recipent. Email accounts added here will receive an email for each approved prayer request that has the Prayer Chain check box selected.
  • Visitors to your site will not be able to access your Prayer Requests page until you either add it as a widget to your home page's template or add it as a menu item in your Main Menu. See Widgets to learn how to add a widget to a template.
  • Once the Prayer Requests extension is activated and you have added it as a menu item or widget, visitors to your site will be able to go to your Prayer Requests page and click on the Submit a Request link.
