How podcasts work in netAdventist 3.0
netAdventist 3.0 has a media playback extension called Podcasts, it differs from the file library in that it is not a repository for your media files but a interactive source for your members and non-members alike to download, listen or view your audio and video files organized in to folders of similar content. A podcast is not an individual media file but a grouping of media files that you can add more content to without requiring a member or guest to resubscribe to each new entry when new media files are uploaded to a podcast.
Webmasters: To create and added content to a podcast:
- Turn on the Podcast extension. This can be done by going to Setting in the dashboard and selecting Extensions. Once on the Extensions page Activate the podcast extension.
- Next select the Websites pages tab while still in the dashboard and select Podcasts from the left navigation bar.
- Once on the podcast index page select the Add Podcast button on the right top or select the Edit button an existing podcast folder. You will be asked to name your podcast. Remember this is just a folder. You will add media entries after this step. Select Next to move to the add entries screen tab 2.
- Select the Add a Entry button at the bottom of the page on the left, you might have to scroll down to it.
- When you select the Add a Entry button scroll down and enter the name, person featured, date, and description for your new media file.
- Next select either Add an Audio file or Add a video file. Once selected a window will open for you to either pick a file from the list already in the File Library or upload a new one. Note, if you upload a new one you will need to Insert it into the File Library list then select it to insert it into a podcast. If it's already in the list just select it's check box then Insert.
- Once the entry is inserted remember to select the Save button or your entries will not be saved. If choose Done before you save your entry it will not be saved and you will need to readd it.
- Media files are added one at a time. To add more entries to the same Podcast folder, repeat the Add a Entry steps 4-6. Select Done.
- Remember to set access leve it required.
- Now create a way for your members and non-members to get to the Podcast page. See instructions for adding a menu or for adding a link to a content page.
